The list is based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by research partner Energage, LLC (formerly WorkplaceDynamics), a leading provider of technology-based employee engagement tools. • IAEE Announces 2018 Legend of the Industry Don Pazour to be Honored During the Krakoff Leadership Institute

IAEE Announces 2018 Legend of the Industry Don Pazour to be Honored During the Krakoff Leadership Institute

    August 2, 2018

Don Pazour to be Honored During the Krakoff Leadership Institute

Today, the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) announces the selection of Don Pazour as its 2018 Legend of the Industry. He will be honored during this year’s Krakoff Leadership Institute (KLI) to be held 5-6 August 2018 at the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center in Savannah, Ga.

The KLI Legend of the Industry is selected from IAEE members whose contributions, innovation and leadership have been truly unique and remarkable. An informal setting then allows each KLI participant face-to-face interaction with this industry leader.

Don Pazour thrives on celebrating and supporting others’ success. He believes that great business events and trade shows are built around the needs of the communities they serve. As CEO of Access Intelligence LLC and before that, a U.S. division of UBM, Pazour has led scores of acquisitions to build robust trade show portfolios. He also supported and sponsored many executives at the companies he has managed, launched and innovated, driving their events to great levels of success. In all of these cases, the key to his success was backing and collaborating with great leaders that understood their customers’ information and commercial needs.

Pazour began his media career as an editor of a mining magazine and found his love for face-to-face events through the launch of a mining summit held in Taxco, Mexico which drew attendees from 34 countries. Being allowed by his managers to take that risk and deliver a great community event was to be emulated through his support and willingness to risk failure with his own future employees. He continued to learn from many of the entrepreneurs who, after selling their businesses, worked alongside him to integrate those events into a larger organization.

Pazour believes every community has its own personality and culture, which serve as the core around which best industry practices can be applied to create more value for both the attendee and exhibitor. He sees his main responsibility as putting leaders in place that understand the communities they serve, and are passionate about delivering awesome and profitable experiences for their customers.

In addition to his involvement in IAEE, Pazour is a past chairman and member of the Society of Independent Show Organizers (SISO) Board of Directors and past vice-chair and former Board member of the Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR).

“My philosophy has always been one of collaboration and support with my fellow colleagues, and I have been fortunate to work with industry leaders who have inspired me throughout my career,” said Pazour. “I am both honored and humbled to be considered among them, and look forward to sharing ideas at the KLI Dinner.”

The IAEE Krakoff Leadership Institute brings together individuals interested in learning more about themselves so they can get involved and become effective strategists, contributors, facilitators and innovators. This highly interactive curriculum integrates theory and practice to ensure institute participants leave capable of both thinking better and doing better.

IAEE extends a special thank you to its 2018 KLI partners:

Via Satellite Announces Stéphane Israël, Chairman & CEO of Arianespace, Satellite Executive of the Year 2016

Satellite Executive of the Year Award Presentation Luncheon to be held Wednesday, March 8, at the SATELLITE 2017 Conference and Exhibition

ROCKVILLE, Md. – February 15, 2017 — Stéphane Israël, the Chairman & CEO of Arianespace, has been named Via Satellite’s Satellite Executive of the Year for 2016. Arianespace’s performance during 2015 and 2016 has been flawless and impressive on so many levels. At the helm of the company since 2013, Stéphane Israël has proven himself a true leader guaranteeing Arianespace’s success in an increasingly competitive and changing environment.

So, what was that impressive about Arianespace in 2016? In 2016, the company performed 11 successful launches. This included seven launches of its heavy launcher Ariane 5, which set several new records. The numbers are fantastic for the Ariane 5 with such feats as bringing more than 10.7 tons to GTO, delivering 4 Galileo satellites at once for the first time and reaching a record of 77 successes in a row since 2003 on December 2016.

Arianespace’s commercial success also kept pace with its operational success. The company signed 13 launch contracts in 2016.  This includes nine Ariane 5 contracts, two Soyuz contracts as well as two Vega contracts. Thanks to Israël, the company now has an order book valued at 5.2 billion euros representing 53 launches for 30 customers, a very healthy state of affairs.

But, while the numbers are impressive, they don’t tell the whole story. In 2016, Arianespace secured two future launch vehicles, Ariane 6 and Vega C, thanks to crucial ESA decisions made in November 2016. Moreover, Arianespace adopted new governance, when CNES shares were transferred to Airbus Safran Launchers. In both cases, Israël has proven as skillful navigating the European institutional waters, as he has signing new contracts, positioning the launch service provider to go from strength to strength.

When Israël took over at Arianespace in 2013, the launch service provider faced more competition than ever before. Despite an uber competitive environment, Israël has flourished, building on Arianespace’s impressive legacy and signing contracts with some of the bright new things of the satellite industry such as OneWeb and SkyBox Imaging (Terra Bella) while maintaining Arianespace’s long term relationship with global and regional operators. It is for these reasons Via Satellite has voted Stéphane Israël to be our Satellite Executive of the Year for 2016.

“It is hard not to be impressed by the job Stéphane Israël has done at Arianespace over the last few years,” said Mark Holmes, Editorial Director of Via Satellite. “We take for granted successful launches now from Arianespace, but history shows us that this is still far from easy. But, what has really impressed me is the fact Israël has taken the company to new heights in terms of contracts, launches as well as making significant progress to bringing better launch vehicles to market. Israël was a worthy nominee in 2015. He is a worthy winner in 2016, and has shown himself to be an executive of the highest calibre in his short time at Arianespace.”

“I am very honored to receive the Satellite Executive of the Year Award,” said Stéphane Israël, Chairman and CEO of Arianespace. “I dedicate this award to the Arianespace team, which is simply amazing. And I am grateful to our customers and partners for their trust. The space industry and market have never experienced such rapid change as it has today. Arianespace is excited to face these new challenges, with a pioneering spirit to meet and overcome them.”

For 30 years, Via Satellite magazine has been honoring the satellite executives who made a lasting business impact on the global satellite market during the previous calendar year.

Via Satellite magazine will showcase Israël in its “Satellite Executive of the Year” cover feature in the March issue. Stéphane Israël will be presented with his award at the Satellite Executive of the Year award luncheon on Wednesday, March 8, and a reception that will be held that evening. Both events take place during the SATELLITE 2017 Conference and Exhibition, which runs March 6-9 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center at 801 Mount Vernon Pl, NW, Washington D.C. Rockville, MD, November 30, 2016 – In a first for the B-to-B event industry, Access Intelligence, a leading worldwide business information and marketing company based here, has partnered with FISH Technologies to introduce a new level of audience and exhibitor engagement to one of the company’s largest events.

The FISH platform, which is best known for its wide use by professional sports leagues and major consumer brands, is being jointly customized with AI to create stronger buyer-seller connections at LeadsCon, which will take place March 20-22, 2017 at The Paris in Las Vegas. The event, now in its 10th year, attracts more than 3,000 people in the performance marketing industry. The new LeadsConnect platform will utilize FISH Technologies’ suite of RFID tracking technologies to personalize the attendee experience by suggesting content, activities, and exhibitors based on attendee behavior and interests during the event. Using a network of RFID chips and beacons placed throughout the event, AI and FISH will be able to gather valuable data and insights into attendee behavior, including session visits, content downloads from the event app, exhibitors visited, and which activities they participated in. AI will be able to utilize the data to serve up relevant connections, activities, content and exhibitors based on each attendee’s interests and behavior – both during and after the show. As part of the program, every attendee will have access to a personalized microsite where all of their session content, exhibitor downloads, surveys and prize notifications will be posted, providing a central repository for all of the content they gathered at the event. For exhibitors and sponsors, LeadsConnect provides a more efficient way to drive leads and make deeper connections with qualified attendees. Sponsors will be able to augment the information they collect at their booths with session tracking and other data packages that can help them profile those who are most likely to be a fit for their products or services based on their demographic information combined with their behavioral profiles. The LeadsConnect platform will boost exhibitor ROI by creating stronger real-time connections with buyers along with key insights that they can use to optimize their messaging and prioritize their follow up activities. The key parts of the LeadsConnect platform include:
—Attendee Behavior Tracking: All attendees will have RFID chips embedded in their badges, which will allow LeadsCon to monitor which sessions, exhibitors and activities they visit, and what content they download or interact with. Based on their behavior and inferred interests, they will receive personalized recommendations for sessions and exhibitors they might be interested in.
—Session Tracking: By seamlessly tracking who is attending specific sessions, sponsors will be able to collect valuable data on not only who attended a particular session, but what other sessions and exhibitors those attendees interacted with. These insights can help them prioritize those most relevant for their products and services.
—Buyer Microsites: The LeadsConnect tracking platform will gather all the content – including session presentations, sponsor downloads, surveys and more – that each attendee has accessed and post it on a personalized microsite that they can access after the event. Sponsors will be able to target their messaging directly to the microsites of buyers whose interests and behavior match their product or service offerings, providing valuable post-show message reinforcement.
—Gamification: The RFID system will allow LeadsCon to “gamify” the event, creating a more fun and engaging experience that will be seamlessly integrated into the LeadsConnect platform. Attendees will use their badges in combination with the show app to connect with participating exhibitors who will have special “track towers” placed in their booths.“We’re very excited to be able to introduce the same platform being used to enhance the fan-sponsor experience at some of the world’s largest marquee sporting events to the B-to-B industry and especially our LeadsCon community,” commented Kerry Smith, Senior Vice President of Access Intelligence’s Marketing Division. Smith noted that the aspect of the system that most appealed to his team was FISH’s single-platform strategy. “Until now, we’ve had to cobble together several different systems — event apps, registration, lead collection, surveys and meetings scheduling — to deliver our event experience. The end result was often cumbersome to our attendees because they had to log in to multiple platforms. LeadsConnect will unite these functions onto a single platform which will create a seamless and personalized experience for our attendees and will significantly reduce the time our team spends trying to get multiple systems to connect to each other.”According to Rick Weldon, President of FISH Technologies, Access Intelligence is known for producing some of the best B-to-B conferences, and have always had a focus on enhancing the attendee experience. “There has been a great deal of buzz over the last several years about ‘technology’, and how it should be applied to the conference space. We are pleased to have found that FISH and Access Intelligence share the belief that it’s not merely about technology, but rather using technology as a conduit to more successfully marry buyers and sellers and make conferences more engaging, memorable and fun for the attendee”.FISH provides Live Event Operating Systems for many of the world’s largest conferences and marquee sporting events. The FISH Platform empowers event marketers with the ability to maximize data collection, facilitate more active engagement, and track all aspects of event behavior in real time.Founded in 2007, LeadsCon showcases the best people and companies in vertical media and direct-response marketing. More than 5000+ people rely each year on LeadsCon conferences in Las Vegas and New York for unparalleled insights and access to marketing leaders.

  • DecisionHealth Acquires Contexo Media, Dorland Health

DecisionHealth Acquires Contexo Media, Dorland Health

    Wednesday, September 25, 2013

GAITHERSBURG, Md., August 28, 2013  — DecisionHealth LLC, and its parent company, UCG, LLC, today announced the acquisitions of Contexo Media and Dorland Health, from Access Intelligence, LLC, of Rockville, Md. The combined entity becomes one of the largest providers of revenue cycle management guidance and tools to healthcare businesses nationwide.

“The product portfolios of our companies complement each other wonderfully,” said Jerry Okabe, General Manager of Contexo Media, who joins DecisionHealth as Vice President. “Health facilities, practices, agencies and students now have one place from which to get state-of-the-art tools for medical coding, billing and the entirety of their revenue cycle.”

The combination of DecisionHealth, Contexo Media and Dorland Health comes as demand for healthcare services is increasing exponentially given rapid growth in the U.S. population and extended life expectancy. With the cost of care rising as a result, insurance payers, led by Medicare, are demanding greater coordination of care among healthcare providers, as well as greater specificity to explain the health services provided and that they were medically necessary.

To that end, on October 1, 2014, the U.S. healthcare market will adopt ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS, a system of 67,000 medical diagnoses codes that’s five times larger than what’s used today by providers. As a result the need among providers for essential coding and billing guidance is increasing dramatically.

“We think this is a great time to be expanding our footprint in the market for business information services for healthcare providers,” said Steve Greenberg, President of DecisionHealth. “Contexo Media and Dorland Health offer a strong product line, great customers and a talented team of employees, all of which we are excited to add to our organization.”

In acquiring Dorland Health, DecisionHealth now is positioned as a leading publisher of premium content and training for care management professionals and providers migrating to new, more efficient service delivery models as the industry shifts from fee-for-service to a system rewarded on quality, wellness and outcomes.

“DecisionHealth appreciates the growing information needs faced by our customers, and the importance of actionable guidance and high-level training that drives both patient outcomes and the financial health of payers and providers,” said Carol Brault, Publisher of Dorland Health and Contexo Media, who joins DecisionHealth as Vice President. “This is unquestionably an outstanding strategic fit for both the Dorland Health and Contexo Media brands, and an opportunity to better serve our growing customer base.”

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Via Satellite Announces Tom Choi, Chief Executive Officer, Asia Broadcast Satellite, Satellite Executive of the Year 2012 Satellite Executive of the Year Award Presentation Luncheon to be held Wednesday, March 20, at the SATELLITE 2013 Conference and Exhibition

Rockville, MD — Thursday, February 14th 2013 – Tom Choi, Chief Executive Officer, Asia Broadcast Satellite (ABS), has been named Via Satellite’s Satellite Executive of the Year for 2012. ABS posted strong financial performance in 2012 with revenues growing by more than 20%, and net profits growing by close to 200% from the prior year. ABS also announced and committed to key satellite industry innovations in 2012. ABS is a multi-regional satellite operator on the rise. Tom Choi is building an impressive business based on smart acquisitions and aggressive and creative investments in new satellites.

Choi lacks nothing in the daring department, and over the last few years, ABS has designed and procured ABS-2, one of the biggest satellites ever commissioned, and worked towards securing financing from the Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank) to support its ambitious business plans. In November, Ex-Im Bank announced the authorization of two transactions aggregating $461 million to underwrite the export of American-made satellites and American launches for ABS. The pair of transactions will support approximately 3,700 U.S. jobs, according to Bank estimates derived from Departments of Commerce and Labor data and methodology.

The strategy for ABS-2 has been equally impressive. The satellite has more than 12 kW of payload power and up to a total of 89 active C-band, Ku-band and Ka-band transponders across 10 different beams bringing increased capacity and transmission power to the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, and CIS/Russia. ABS has already sold 60% of the capacity on ABS-2. With deals in the pipeline, this is expected to go beyond the 70% figure at launch. Choi predicts the satellite will reach a 90% utilization rate one year after launch, an impressive feat given the size of the satellite.

From a cost recovery perspective, ABS expects the full program cost will be recouped by the second or third year after launch. Choi has succeeded in putting ABS on the global map in a relatively short period of time, and the future plans for ABS are just as impressive as the recent feats of the company. Just a few years ago, the operator had only one satellite, but Choi has been moving quickly to create a multi-regional powerhouse that is expanding its presence in Africa, Central & Eastern Europe (including Russia), Middle East and South, East and Southeast Asia. Choi operates without fear and aggressively looks to change things, whether by putting together innovative deals for new satellites or financing or making good on existing investments. “Tom Choi has built up Asia Broadcast Satellite at a remarkable pace,” said Mark Holmes, editor of Via Satellite. “Choi makes brave decisions from acquiring satellites, securing financing, to commissioning new satellites.

In 2012, this approach reached a new level when ABS teamed up with Satmex to order four of Boeing’s new 702SP ‘small platform satellites’, and launch them on SpaceX Falcon 9 rockets. These innovations potentially show the way for other regional operators to get better economies of scale when ordering new satellites. Choi has built a strong multi-regional business in a short space of time, with revenues and profits also on an impressive upswing. It is for this combination of impressive results, and innovation that we are proud to recognize Tom Choi as the 2012 Satellite Executive of the Year.” “We are extremely grateful for this wonderful recognition by the award’s committee of the accomplishments we have been able to achieve at Asia Broadcast Satellite.

The building blocks of our success are the numerous partnerships we developed with all of our partners including our loyal customers, innovative vendors, dedicated employees and our supportive shareholders, especially the Permira Funds,” commented Tom Choi, CEO of ABS. “This award is dedicated to each and every one of our partners that have supported our efforts in creating the fastest growing satellite operator in the past 5 years. We thank them for their past contributions and we continue to depend upon them for their support for our future growth and success.”

For more than 20 years, Via Satellite magazine has been honoring the satellite executives who made a lasting business impact on the global satellite market during the previous calendar year.” Via Satellite magazine will showcase Choi in its “Satellite Executive of the Year” cover feature in the March issue. ROCKVILLE, MD, July 5, 2011 — Access Intelligence announced today the acquisition of Cynopsis Media LLC, the publisher of daily and weekly eletters for the television, digital media, kids marketing and sports media businesses. This marks the third acquisition in the past six months for Access Intelligence, which has considerably strengthened its leadership position in the media and communications markets by investing in strategic acquisitions while enjoying rapid growth with its existing brands.

Cynopsis Media publishes the Cynopsis daily covering the latest news in the TV business; Cynopsis Digital, Cynopsis Kids and the just-launched Cynopsis Sports. Additionally, it is one of the leading publishers of classified jobs in the TV industry through the Cynopsis Classified Advantage, and its Web site, cynopsis.com, is the business executive’s destination for news, video, jobs listings and more covering the TV, entertainment, kids and digital markets.

Access Intelligence, an integrated media company serving a global audience, delivers award-winning business intelligence to executives in the media, communications, healthcare, aviation, energy, defense and chemical markets through conferences, trade shows, networking events, publications, books and emedia offerings.

Cynthia Turner, a TV business veteran who founded Cynopsis in 1997 and grew the readership to nearly 150,000 subscribers in 53 countries, will serve as the Founder and Publisher of the Cynopsis Group under the leadership of Diane Schwartz, senior vice president of Access Intelligence’s Media and Communications Group.

“We have known Cynthia for years and have always been impressed with the success and rapid growth of her business,” said Schwartz. “Her core television property rounds out our Cable Group and her launches provide very high quality platforms for expansion into two hugely important vertical marketing sectors — children and sports.”

Noted Turner: “I’m delighted to be partnering with Access Intelligence, and the incredible AI team, who are committed to growing the Cynopsis brand. Utilizing the much larger AI platform, we will be able to extend Cynopsis beyond the business of eletters into several new areas, providing me and the Cynopsis team with an extraordinary and exciting opportunity to reach further than ever before.”

Peloton Media Advisors, LLC was the exclusive advisor to Cynopsis Media, LLC on the transaction.

The acquisition marks Access Intelligence’s continued investment in high-performing and premier properties with engaged audiences and best-in-class products and services. In February, Access Intelligence acquired Red 7 Media, which serves the events and media business through Event Marketer, Expo, Best Events, Folio: and Audience Development. In January 2011, AI acquired OR Manager, the leading media brand and annual educational conference and trade show for operating room executives, managers and hospital directors.

Cynopsis Media rounds out Access Intelligence’s Cable portfolio, adding a robust eletter business to its fold, and expanding into the fast-growing sectors of sports and kids marketing and entertainment.

“Cynopsis and the Red 7 integrated media company have established AI as a major player in the media and marketing sector and OR Manager’s integrated media base has enhanced our healthcare portfolio,” said Don Pazour, president and CEO of Access Intelligence. “We expect to continue an aggressive plan of organic and acquisition growth across these two core groups within the company.”
