FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Rockville, MD – April 22, 2025 – POWER magazine has been honored as a regional award winner in two prestigious categories of the 2025 Azbee Awards of Excellence, reaffirming its role as a trusted and influential voice in the global power generation industry. These accolades underscore POWER‘s long-standing editorial excellence and its commitment to delivering critical insights to energy professionals around the world.
The magazine’s June 2024 Transmission & Distribution Special Report earned a Bronze Award in the “Special Issue or Supplement” category in the Central U.S. region. Many of the most pressing issues facing the power industry were addressed by POWER’s staff of well-qualified editors in the June Special Report. The lead story focused on how the government and industry are strengthening America’s electric power grid in various ways. Among the other topics touched on in the report were microgrid technology, mitigating electromagnetic pulse (EMP) and geomagnetic disturbance (GMD) risks to the power grid, a crisis developing in the transformer market, infrastructure upgrade strategies, high-voltage power transmission solutions, and bringing stability to a renewable-heavy grid. These important and timely articles packaged neatly in the special report were deemed worthy of recognition by the Azbee judges.
Meanwhile, POWER‘s July 8, 2024, podcast, which featured an interview with Mycle Schneider, independent international energy and nuclear policy analyst and editor of the annual World Nuclear Industry Status Report, was recognized with a Silver Award in the “Podcast” category in the Central U.S. region. In the episode, Schneider discusses his controversial stance and explains why he believes the nuclear sector is “totally irrelevant” in today’s market for new power capacity. With 188 episodes and still growing, The POWER Podcast is one of the longest running energy-focused podcasts available. It is a well-respected show that delivers the power industry insight it craves, as the Azbee judges clearly recognized.
The Azbee Awards of Excellence, presented by the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE), celebrate outstanding work in business-to-business journalism across 68 categories. Recognized as one of the most competitive programs in B2B media, the 2025 awards drew more than 800 entries evaluated by a panel of 83 seasoned editors, journalists, designers, and educators.
Winners of the national awards will be announced during a live virtual ceremony on Tuesday, May 27, from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. ET.
