Assistant Managing Editor

Access Intelligence’s premier aerospace publication Avionics International is seeking a well-organized and tech-savvy Assistant Managing Editor responsible for writing, editing and helping to coordinate content for our weekly e-letters, bi-monthly magazine and annual event, Connected Aviation Intelligence. The AME will also assist in recruitment of speakers for online and live events and recruiting and scheduling guest writers for the website

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop content and lead deployment of weekly Advanced Aviation Report e-newsletter
  • Proofread and provides production support for bi-monthly digital/print magazine
  • Overseeing expansion and growth of the Avionics International community
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of a comprehensive social media strategy
  • Developing and optimizing multimedia content for all social media networks
  • Helping to program and recruit speakers for webinars and live events
  • Assigns articles to freelancers and recruit guest expert contributors
  • Represent aerospace brands at industry events
  • Assist in coordination of speakers for annual Connected Aviation Intelligence event

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Four-year degree in Journalism, English, Communications or other relevant field or commensurate experience
  • Three to five years of publishing/magazine experience
  • Proficiency with desktop publishing word processing software and knowledgeable in effective use of graphic design
  • Understanding of and ability to apply copyright laws
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work in a deadline oriented environment
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Experience working in the aerospace industry or interest in covering aerospace technologies and topics is preferred

  • Professional demeanor with internal colleagues and external clients
  • Accept external queries and feedback and assess/route/respond to them accordingly
  • Participate in scheduled meetings
  • Other content/events related duties as assigned

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physical movement associated with travel by air, vehicle, and other modes of transportation
  • Sitting for long periods
  • Working at a computer keyboard and monitor for long periods
  • Reading printed type of various sizes for various lengths of time
  • Except for during periods of travel, works in an office environment
